Zechariah 7:9-10 (NIV)“This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. Do not plot evil against each other.’

Helping refugees from war torn countries who have relocated to St. Louis. Fewer than 10% will be befriended by an American, much less by our Christian Churches. Oasis is changing this statistic they help these families get started in practical ways with furniture household items and clothes. List of needed DONATIONS

One couple from FBC Lake St. Louis, Bill and Joan Dotson have started working with Oasis International to assist Refuges. Joan is a past WMU President for Missouri and Bill serves on our Twin Rivers Mission committee. They have started doing international missions less than an hour from their home. Oasis International is located in South St. Louis with a mission to help refuges coming to the St. Louis area. Bill and Joan have visited in the home of refugees. Drove them to appointments. Helped with English and many other basic things for families just coming to our countries.

There are many opportunities to serve, one day a week, or one day a month. Sorting clothes, driver tests, helping to teach English or even providing child care for mothers going thru English classes. Oasis International is run by Mark and Joani Akers. Their web site is oasis4refugees.org. Wouldn't it be great if many of our Twin River churches could get involved? Give us a call.
