Disaster Relief Needs You!

Lately Disaster Relief Volunteers have been in high demand. So many storm related events recently have greatly increased the need for DR Volunteers. Twin Rivers has DR trailers equipped for all manner of disasters available to take to a site. All this top of the line equipment is no good without DR Volunteers to use them, often times we get a call out for a need and are unable to help due to the lack of trained volunteers. I would like to encourage you to prayerfully consider this mission field.

If you would like to find out more give us a call at the office or check out the Disaster Relief Page at www.mobaptist.org the following is an excerpt from their page. Becoming a Disaster Relief Volunteer provides an excellent opportunity for hands on service to people in need. Training is open to any member of a Southern Baptist church who is at least 18 years of age. Attending training does not obligate you to serve but is necessary before serving.

You have an opportunity to get Disaster Relief Training this Year:

Oasis International

Helping refugees from war torn countries who have relocated to St. Louis. Fewer than 10% will be befriended by an American, much less by our Christian Churches. Oasis is changing this statistic they help these families get started in practical ways with furniture household items and clothes.

One couple from FBC Lake St. Louis, Bill and Joan Dotson have started working with Oasis International to assist Refuges. Joan is a past WMU President for Missouri and Bill serves on our Twin Rivers Mission committee. They have started doing international missions less than an hour from their home. Oasis International is located in South St. Louis with a mission to help refuges coming to the St. Louis area. Bill and Joan have visited in the home of refugees. Drove them to appointments. Helped with English and many other basic things for families just coming to our countries.

There are many opportunities to serve, one day a week, or one day a month. Sorting clothes, driver tests, helping to teach English or even providing child care for mothers going thru English classes. Oasis International is run by Mark and Joani Akers. Their web site is oasis4refugees.org. Wouldn't it be great if many of our Twin River churches could get involved? Give us a call.

Blessings, Brent L. Campbell

August 2016

Wow! Where does the time go? Seems like just yesterday we were just starting summer. Had the Southern Baptist Convention coming to St. Louis; all 6 of our camps were scheduled and most of our churches had a VBS on the calendar.

August is already here and summer is about over. St. Louis was a great host to the SBC. Crossover the weekend before the convention was a big success with over 500 people making decision for Christ in over 80 venues around the city. We saw a new President elected pastor Steve Gaines from Tennessee was elected unanimously. Brother Gaines will be one of the preachers at our Missouri Baptist Pastors Conference in St. Charles this year. Our own Dr. Tom Bray is chair of the pastor’s conference this year. Looking forward to a great day on October. 24th.

A big Thank you to everyone that worked at camp and made for another great year. Special thanks to Jim and Malinda Cline for Directing Boys and Youth camp at Loutre Valley and Rhonda Bass for taking care of the girls camp. To Becky Grimes and Tracey Cleveland for doing girls camp at Derricotte. Greg Plasterer for directing Youth camp and Chad Hodges for doing boys camp at Derricotte. They all gave tirelessly to make each camp great.

Even as August gets in full swing we have a lot of big things going on across our Twin Rivers Association. On Sunday August 7th Peine Ridge will be officially opening their new building. On the 14th a new church will be launched in south Wentzville area. Redtree church with Rick Tucker as pastor. On the 21st FBC Lake St. Louis will dedicate their new building.

Blessings, Brent L. Campbell

It was just 7 years ago that a few young men started with a vision to start a new church in Wentzville. It was 2010 that Peine Ridge Church was launched. They have grew and started a new church in Troy, Credence. Peine bought land right off the Wentzville Parkway next to Rotary Park. In 2015 they started building a brand new church. Their very first church building that they would own. It has been completed and thanks be to God finished beautifully. They will have their dedication service on August the 7th. Praise the Lord. We celebrate with them as they enjoy this new building to better minister in the Wentzville area.

Rick Tucker has served as a youth pastor in our area for over 15 years. Last year we talked about how God was calling him to start a church in South Wentzville. He envisioned a new church called Redtree. They have already had 2 prelaunch meetings in June and July and on August 14 Redtree Church will officially launch at South Middle School.

FBC Lake St Louis Even though it seems that FBC Lake St. Louis has been around forever they are just a little over 30 years old. The last several years they have been meeting in their multipurpose space. With Pastor Jim Wheelers vision to build a new Auditorium construction was started last year. A beautiful new building was completed this summer. A big beautiful auditorium and office complex and other space was finished and moved into. The official dedication will be Sunday August 21st. As you get close you can see the new cross from quite a distance.
